Shridhar University Pilani Rajasthan Celebrates Foundation Day

Located in Shekhawati Rajasthan Pilani which glitters like a diamond in the educational map of India today is well known for various top ranking educational institutions, CSIR Lab CEERI as well as upcoming BrahMos Missile Assembly Project unit.

An initiative of the Sarvhit Trust, Shridhar University Pilani has been established under Section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956 incorporated by Government of Rajasthan vide Ordinance No. 3 of 2009 and the same ratified by the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly vide Act No. 4 of 2010 as The SHRIDHAR UNIVERSITY ACT BIGODNA, JHUNJHUNU.

Further, Vide letter F.No 8-3/2010(CPP-I/PU) dated 31 May 2010, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has also notified Shridhar University under Section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956. Shridhar University started functioning from 19 November 2009 and the same day each year is celebrated as Foundation Day.

For the year 2011, the celebrations started in the morning with a Havan at Shridhar Temple. The entire campus had a festive look and a group of students had done an eye catching rangoli at the main entrance to the administrative block of the University. There was a cricket match between Faculty XI vs Student XI which was watched by Chancellor Shri Vijay Pal Yadav, various members of Board of Management, Vice Chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Mahesh Vij, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof BR Natarajan and other officers of the Institute along with other faculty members and students. The student XI won the match comfortably thus giving a strong message to the Faculty XI.

Principals of various schools in Shekhawati region covering Pilani, Surajgarh, Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Sikar joined the Shridhar Pariwar for lunch at the University. Special Guest Mr Suresh Narasimhan Global Head of Transformation and Cross Domain Sales at Nokia Siemens Networks Delhi an alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS and George Washington University USA also joined the lunch meet with his family members.

It is indeed a matter of pride that Shridhar University Pilani within a short span of time has attracted students not only from Rajasthan but also from various states of India which include Assam, Tripura, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttarakhand.

The colourful cultural program which was held same day evening at the Multipurpose Hall took the audience on a "Bharat Dashan - Discovery of India" with swagatam geet, Rajasthani Dance, Punjabi Bhangra, patriotic song and an English Play highlighting the transformation of rural students into successful entrepreneurs. Prof Tarun Roy Choudhury from the School of Management who had conceived the entire cultural program got a thunderous applause. A team of students Sonam, Rupa, Sapna and Pooja had done a 5ftx3ft painting with an inspiring message "Everyone is Gifted but Some never open their package - Open Yours" especially for the cultural program as the stage backdrop. The celebrations concluded with a dinner in the University lawns under a star lit sky.

A diamond is indeed a chunk of coal that is made good under pressure is a well known quote and aware of that Shridhar University Pilani continues its journey to achieve excellence into its third year of operation.
