Sieena Helps HR Application become SaaS Enabled in Record Time

Psycowin's Case Study Highlights Growth of First Time Outsourcing During Recession

Los Angeles, CA - Sieena, a leading provider of nearshore software development and comprehensive IT support services, today announced the release of a case study that highlights the growth in firms seeking outsourcing for the first time as a cost-saving strategy during the current economic recession. The case study described how Sieena helped HR software vendor Psycowin build the next generation of their new hire evaluation application, Pyxoom, as a web-delivered application, enabling Psycowin to avoid hiring additional full-time employees to oversee the project and keep costs down.

Software vendor Psycowin had never sought outsourcing help before, having built previous generations of their software with internal staff.

"Psycowin's CEO Jose Villarreal was very conscious that the U.S. economic recession affected his decision to seek an outsourcing firm. He wanted us to help him build the next generation of his software, but did not want to be stuck with additional permanent employees because of uncertainty about the economy," said Mauricio Durán, CEO of Sieena.

"With Sieena I was able to ramp up quickly without having to add fixed costs to my bottom line," said Jose Villarreal, Psycowin's CEO. "Sieena helped me develop a new product so I could avoid hiring additional developers."

Villarreal added that it was difficult to maintain additional resources on staff while the current economic remained unstable.

"Companies that haven't traditionally outsourced before are starting to outsource, but they're wary of going to India because of time-differences and because of stories they've heard of projects gone bad," Durán said. "We've received more and more inquiries from U.S. companies looking to outsource for the first time because of the recession, but they're looking for a firm with operations close to home. Mexico is the obvious answer."

The growth of companies looking to outsource software development and IT services during the last year has also coincided with the growth in outsourcing to Mexico, where Sieena has a development center.

The recent recession-induced outsourcing trend has even affected Mexico. Psycowin, a large HR Software player in Latin America, is based in Mexico.

"There's a saying in Mexico," Durán said. "When the U.S. sneezes, Mexico catches a cold." For a complete copy of Sieena's Psycowin case study, email [email protected] or visit this link.
