Silly Sally's Parties and Events for Children's

Hi there. I'm Silly Sally. I've been doing kids parties for around seven or eight years. I got into being children entertainers as I had worked as an actress and a walkabout street children entertainers.

Silly Sally used to do stilt walking and clowning at street theatre events. I used to teach kids as a substitute primary teacher also and I never liked the relationship you have with kids when you're teaching them. It didn't seem to me to be fun for me or the kids. I thought there must be a better way of working with kids, one that suits me better. I love kids and I love making them laugh at birthday parties for kids. So I started working as a children's clown at clown parties for other children's party entertainers. I had a lot of training as an actor and teaching is acting to a certain extent so it seemed a pretty natural progression for me. The other children entertainers trained me up in the areas I was lacking i.e. the skills of balloons and face painting. So eight years later here I am, running my own company www.sillysally.ie, and able to give employment to other kids party entertainers who want to do children's birthday parties. They have all been trained by me and so the content of their parties is similar to mine. They have their own style as most of them had been doing kids parties for a long time before I offered they work.

The first party I did was the clown party. You can find a detailed run down of the clown parties on my website. It involves the basic structure of: Magic tricks which are very interactive and which the kids help out with; Games and balloon modelling balloons as prizes - I make poodles, jumping mice, flowers and swords to mention but a few of the balloons in my repertoire; pass the parcel - there's usually two or three prizes: face painting - I can do Spiderman, batman, cats, dogs, tigers, butterflies, princesses and lots more. There's something for everyone here. I found with the face painting that I can only work on one or two kids at a time so I usually get the kids to sing into my microphone while I'm face painting and this keeps them occupied,. They are usually happy at this stage to interact with each other as the party is quite structured up to that point with everyone doing everything as a group.

The next party I developed was the princess birthday party as girls seemed to want something special when there were no boys at the party and it was a new area. I stayed with the same tried and tested basic structure of the clown party and developed it in a more girly way. I arrive at the party in a fabulous dress as a bit of a ditzy fairy godmother who is a bit forgetful and silly. This fairy godmother character gives me scope to be girly and funny at the same time. Instead of face painting, I do glitter hairspray and makeup which is very girly and also leaves me with more time to run a princess ball/disco. This structure is not set in stone. Sometimes parents want face painting at the princess parties and it's really cool to mix and match. All parties can be tailored to individual needs. The princess parties are very sweet and sometimes even end up in a group hug!

I also developed the pirate party, as a request from the parent of a girl. It is mostly booked for boys parties and I sometimes arrive as a pirate and if there are girls at it we can have a pirates and princess party or if I'm doing a princess party with a few boys, it can be a princess and pirates party. The pirate party has the same basic structure as the clown party with everything done with a pirate theme. So the magic tricks are in a story about bad pirates following me and trying to destroy the party and pass the parcel becomes pass the treasure etc.

There were a lot of requests for disco parties so I bought the boom box and developed the Disco Diva party. This can be suited to older kids (8 - 12 years old). And it can also be geared toward the younger kids. It can also be themed so it can be a High School Musical party or a Mamma Mia party for example. The Disco Diva character is an over-the-top 1970s style disco diva who has an over developed sense of her own fame. It's really great fun to play. At these kids parties the structure can include (depending on the age of the kids): Glitter hairspray and makeup, a dance competition in groups, a solo dance competition to find the most dazzling disco divas with balloon prizes (everyone's a winner), pass the parcel, magic tricks, singing and lots of dancing.

As I stated above, all the parties can be tailored to a child's needs, likes and desires. All the parties are geared towards the 3 - 8 age groups, with the disco party suitable also for the 8 - 12 age groups. If I am not available on the day of your party, don't worry, I can send one of the children entertainers who works with me.
