Simple Web TV Adds HTML5 Support
Online, August 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The new version of Simple Web TV adds, among other features, support for video playback using HTML5, when the Adobe Flash plugin is not available on the device from which the WebTV is being viewed.
The use of HTML5 is ideal to allow the WebTV to be viewed on Smartphones and Tablets, without Flash plugin, but with HTML5 and H.264 capable Web browsers; for example: iPad, Android 4.1 devices, etc.
Although HTML5 is an evolving standard, it is currently mature enough as to begin enjoying its features, besides being supported by the main Web browsers on the market.
Until not long ago, the only way of viewing videos in Web browsers was through the use of video players which relied on plugins like Flash. One of the key features of HTML5 is the advanced video support without needing any special plugin. The only things required are a device with H.264 (MPEG4) video support and a Web browser with HTML5 and H.264 video support.
The optional HTML5 extension of Simple Web TV incorporates a complete HTML5 video player (with support for playlists, fullscreen mode, etc.) that is used when the Flash plugin is not available on the device from which the WebTV is being viewed.
