Simutech Multimedia Releases New Updates to the Troubleshooting Skills Training System
Online, November 5, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Simutech Multimedia, a leader in simulation-based electrical troubleshooting training software, is pleased to announce the release of a new version of the Troubleshooting Skills Training System, for immediate availability. This release includes Version 4.10 of the Troubleshooting Skills Series, Version 1.60 of Troubleshooting Industrial Controls, and Version 1.10 of the Simutech Course Manager.
With improvements to existing features and the addition of new features, based on feedback gathered from customers, the award winning programs have undergone significant upgrades to create even more effective training tools.
The program enhancements include improved meter and safety features, including a new "verify dead" feature that reinforces important safety procedures used in industry. Improved reporting and evaluation features provide more information and details about user progress and results, while a new Skill Maintenance section has also been added, with modified Retry and New Fault options, to make maintaining skills easier.
In conjunction with the revised program content, the Simutech Course Manager software also underwent a major upgrade to make it a more powerful tool for instructors, supervisors, and other course administrators. Additional detailed progress data is now available for more comprehensive user tracking, while the creation of a wider range of reporting options now makes it easier for administrators to evaluate skills development.
One of the principal upgrades is the new Custom Test feature, which allows instructors to create and implement their own tests for more flexibility. By choosing up to eight faults per test from all faults included in a program, including Guided, Practice, and all Skill Test levels, instructors can now customize their troubleshooting course as well as target and test specific skills.
"We had received a number of requests from instructors and educators to provide a more customizable user experience for progressing through the programs," said Warren Rhude, President of Simutech Multimedia. "Early feedback is showing that the major changes we made to the Course Manager, including the Custom Test feature and the additional control over the feedback the student receives really go a long way to addressing those needs."
With this new release, the products have also been realigned into four updated editions. The new Personal Edition replaces the Student and Expert Editions for personal users. The Pro Edition replaces the Business Edition for small business and industry. The Enterprise Edition remains available for use in training programs in industry. The other new option is the Education Edition, designed for use by colleges, apprenticeship training programs, and other educational institutions.
