Sina Cloud Computing Brings WordPress to China
The Chinese internet company, Sina.com has come up with its new personal cloud computing services, with WordPress as its first product to be available in the cloud store.
Online, July 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Sina.com, a Chinese internet service provider has been scrutinizing the beta version of its recently launched cloud store, Yunshangdian.com, to provide impeccable and easy to use customized cloud services. Reports say that, the store will make the WordPress application as its first product to be available at the cost of one Chinese Yuan on a monthly basis.
The move won't just prove to be a respite for the users of WordPress but for web developers too who carry out PSD to HTML and PSD to WordPress conversions for a living.
Although the firm, Sina.com has made the WordPress software available for the Chinese users with some extra freedom, yet it can be said that it is not of much specific use except that of simple blogging as half of its allied services like back-end administration of Video Press and the blog network at WordPress.com are already blocked in the People's Republic of China, as revealed by a source.
Seeing the number of internet users and its flourishing economy, Chinese government has decided to take a moral and ethical stand by banning certain websites and blogs by American web firms like, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. The assistance provided by these companies to the Government has immensely helped the Government to maintain a healthy and wealthy environment within the country. WordPress too suffered from similar predicament in the year 2006, and since then the site has been blocked in the country. However, in the month of April 2012, the news of the site being unblocked has come to the light although with some restrictions.
Now with Sina.Com taking a step towards releasing WordPress in its cloud computing services, the users will be allowed to access the internet stores, set up their own blogs, and make use of the project collaboration apparatus, without the need to know the technical specifications like, PHP or MySQL. They even do not require to purchase a domain, said a source. In fact, the users will be provided with a second-level domain, .1kapp.com during the purchase so that they can take a tour of similar websites and applications. However, the source also said that the users will have to provide their invitation code during their participation in the internal beta scrutinizing process.
