Singapore Property Market Cheers Announcement of New Thomson MRT Line.

Online, September 5, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Singapore property owners cheer the announcement of the new Thomson MRT line. The announcement by the government of the finalized plans bought to rest months of speculation on the exact locations of the stations.

This new Thomson MRT line will span the north - south corridor and is about 30 km long. The Thomson Line will start in the north at Woodlands, passes down south wards through Springleaf Garden and the industrial estate of Sin Ming, before going south to Orchard road and the ending at Gardens by the Bay in Marina Bay.

An estimated 400,000 commuters along the Thomson Line will be able to travel directly to the key districts of Singapore such as the Orchard road shopping district and the new Marina Bay financial district.

The entire Thomson MRT line will be built underground, increasing both the complexity and the cost of construction. Some of the stations will have to built below existing or upcoming new stations from other MRT lines, raising the engineering challenge.

Thomson Line will open in three separate stages from 2019 to 2022 and will comprise of 22 stations. This is four more stations then originally planned for. It will also have 6 MRT interchanges to connect to other existing MRT lines or the upcoming Downtown Line.

Property experts believe that the upcoming Thomson Line will be an additional boost to properties' value along the MRT line. The prices of most properties near the Thomson line are expected to rise nearer to the completion of the line. Buyers who wants to seize the opportunities now will benefit more in the future.
