Property buyers and investors are finally getting the news of the finalized stations and locations of the new Thomson MRT line from the Singapore government, after months of speculation and anticipation.

The new Thomson MRT line will be about 30 km long, and will start in the north at Woodlands, down south to Marina Bay. Commuters along the Thomson Line will be able to travel directly to the Orchard road shopping district and the new Marina Bay financial district, bringing a whole new level of convenience to the residents nearby who are previously not near any train stations.

The entire Thomson MRT line will be opened in three separate stages from 2019 till 2012. It will comprise of 22 stations and offers commuters greater conveniences. It will also have 6 MRT interchanges to connect to other existing MRT lines or the upcoming Downtown Line. These interchanges allows commuters to make alternative travel plans to their destination.

Three stations will be completed first and are from Woodlands North to Woodlands South. They are set to complete by 2019. The second set of stations to be completed from comprise of six stations from Springleaf to Caldecott. The final stations to be completed will comprise of 13 stations and set to complete by 2013.

The upcoming Thomson Line will be an additional boost to properties' value along the MRT line. Currently, there is no existing MRT line serving the residents. Residents have to either take the buses or drive to the nearest train stations. Buyers who hesitate now to invest in properties along the MRT line now, will likely to see less gains when the Thomson Line is nearer to completion.
