Single Mom Of 3 Making A Difference For Seniors

Single Mom New Business that makes a difference in her community.

Orlando, Fl-Helping others in nothing new to local Orlando resident Shannon Barnhill. Growing up the daughter of a nurse, her passion has always been to help others as her mom has done. With three active boys though, involvement in local sports and working full time, Barnhill had little time to devote to her passion of helping others- However, in the fall of 2009, Barnhill, like so many other Central Floridians, was laid off from her job due to the effects of the recession. For a single mother of three just trying to make ends meet, this was a devastating blow but Barnhill took this as an opportunity. So with hard work, perseverance and a lot of research on how to start a non-profit organization, Barnhill created Helping Hands Senior Care, Inc.

Helping Hands Senior Care, Inc. is a non-profit agency that helps seniors maintain their independence. Inspired by how good she felt after taking care one of her own aging family members, Barnhill decided that a company that focused on friendship and caring for seniors would be the basis of Helping Hands. Their mission is simple: To help seniors stay safe, feel secure and be happy in their own homes, or another facility in some cases. Helping Hands provides priority home care and assisted living services at affordable prices and can even offer some services without charge.

In today's busy world of careers, demanding schedules, raising families and caring for aging loved ones, Helping Hands Senior Care, Inc. understands that it is impossible to be in two places at once. For this reason, they have focused attention on the family as a whole to solve the dilemma of long distance relationships while becoming the essential link that organizes home care for your loved one and at the same time, provides peace of mind for you.

Getting started is easy. In cooperation with appropriate family members, they complete an individualized assessment for each client and make recommendations for services that will best suit their needs. They stay in touch with extended family and keep them informed about important observed changes in physical or mental status. They can also provide services based on specific requests such as companionship, medication reminders, Home Safety Checks, transportation etc.

Their "Care Managers" are hand picked by Barnhill herself. " Everyone who works with us goes through a rigorous screening/background process. Our Care managers are patient people with positive attitudes and great observation skills. They are competent, dependable, honest and caring and above all they wish to really make a difference. "

Helping Hands Senior Care, Inc. provides non-medical services to a substantially aging population~seniors living alone that are at risk for falls and other accidents, medication errors, and mental stress due to isolation and loneliness.
