Sinkhole-Damaged Garage Gets New Foundation

Chicago, Illinois, May 31, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Poor soil conditions led to a sinkhole that led to the degradation of a garage floor in an Illinois home. To support a new concrete slab and prevent further damage, Ram Jack Illinois installed eight helical piles with guide-sleeves, along with 80 tons of granular material.
Homeowners of a Barrington, IL home were surprised to find that a sinkhole formed underneath their garage floor slab. Structural Shop LTD came in to access the damage, then contacted Ram Jack Illinois to create a repair plan. Helical piles were ideal for the situation and, since the soils at hand were soft, Ram Jack decided to use guide-sleeves. Eight piles in total were installed—four for the existing slab and four for a new slab. 80 tons of CA-6 were also used to create a compacted soil surface. In the end, the garage was stabilized and ready for everyday usage.
