Sisters Without Boundaries Brings HIV/AIDS Forum to Wake County Adults and Teens
Online, January 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - (Wake Forest, North Carolina) - On Saturday, February 20, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, Sisters Without Boundaries (SWB), a Wake Forest based community service organization, will host an information and discussion session about HIV/AIDS, at YWCA of the Greater Raleigh, located at 554 E. Hargett Street, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
It is thought that more than one million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the United States and that more than half a million have died after developing the illness. What was first identified in the US almost 30 years ago is today a global epidemic.
Populations where HIV/AIDS remain problematic lack information and education resources.
This 3-hour program will include an answer and question session, and is open to all Wake County residents. Presenters will include Jacqueline Clements-Melvin of Durham County Health Department and the Lincoln Community Health Center in Durham, Dr. Carolyn McClendon, Director of Faith Ministries at the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina, and Alecia Holloman-Pugh, Project Coordinator of Teens Against AIDS (TAA).
Free prizes, food and refreshments will be provided to attendees, in addition to resource literature.
By arming yourselves with the facts about HIV/AIDS, you will assist our efforts to eradicate this deadly disease that continues to claim millions of lives at home and around the world.
Sisters Without Boundaries believes that together, we can be a catalyst for change.
