SKTA Innopartners LLC Sponsors, Judges Hardware Hackathon

Angel Orrantia named to judges panel for 2nd annual Open Compute hardware hackathon @ Facebook campus

SKTA Innopartners LLC, a high-tech Open Innovation Program for tech leaders and early stage startups, today announced that Angel Orrantia, founding business development director, will serve as a judge for the 2nd annual Open Compute Project (OCP) hardware hackathon, being held at the Facebook campus. Innopartners LLC is also a first-time sponsor of the event.

Orrantia is one in a panel of five judges including: Giovanni Coglitore, angel investor; John Kenevey, Facebook; and executives from Upverter and the Open Compute Project.

Since this hackathon will focus on "ideas for hardware that applies to scale compute space...the industrial Internet or the Internet of Things," Orrantia and his fellow judges will look for "completeness of the design, its applicability to scaled-out computing, and the probability of the hardware attracting funding."

Orrantia stated, "As a strategic, rather than a financial investor, Innopartners is committed to supporting this hackathon and similar events. Our mission is to reinvigorate the funding ecosystem and foster innovation in Information, Communication and Technology such as semiconductors and enterprise system and networking equipment."

Innopartners will consider the top teams as candidates for the Innovation Center. The Open Compute Project will provide the winning team $10,000 toward the development of their idea as well as help develop their pitches to Innopartners and other VC firms. The winner will be announced at GigaOM's Structure conference on June 19 where they will present their project to an audience of venture capitalists and other infrastructure executives and entrepreneurs.
