Skype Updates Mac OS X Version To 5.8
The VoIP service, Skype updates its version to 5.8 for its Mac OS X users along with some improvements in its user interface.
Online, July 7, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The Voice - over-Internet Protocol service, Skype has just updated its 5.8 version for Apple's Mac system users. Reports say that this updated version will be available in Apple's forthcoming desktop operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, featuring a host of new and improved features.
One of the major changes that an individual would notice in this updated version is the inclusion of a fresh and modest user interface with an option to rearrange the contact list by expanding and contracting it as per the user's need in the screen space. According to Krishna Panicker, the Product Manager of Skype for Mac, this feature is the return of what the VoIP had comprised of earlier, before the coming of version 5.0. He also stated that with the release of the new version, 5.8 the premium members of Skype will be able to enjoy the advantage of publicizing their video calls along with screen sharing facility with a group of 10 members during a call made via Skype.
Furthermore, Version 5.8 enhances the experience of Skype for the Mac users by supporting video calls made from iOS devices. Users calling from a Mac to iOS devices will notice some special orientations, as both of them supports different kind of orientations. While Mac supports the landscape mode, both iPad and iPhone supports either landscape or the portrait mode.
Another feature that will amaze its users is the capability to turn on and off the automatic update notifications. This feature will prove to be fruitful for Network Administrators who have to confront with a host of updates from users.
Reports say that Skype for Mac has always managed to keep itself a step ahead of Skype for Windows. For instance, while Skype for Mac has enabled high definition video chatting in the month of August in 2011, it was only in February 2012, Skype for Windows has adapted to it. Again, the Push-to-talk feature that Skype for Windows had integrated recently was available on Skype for Mac since the release of beta version 5.0.
Although Skype for Mac is now available for download, yet the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion it will support is still pending for release till the next month.
