Slyde Handboards Donates Dozens of Handboards to California's Junior Lifeguard Program

Slyde Handboards supports Huntington Beach California's junior lifeguard program by donating dozens of handboards, staying true to their motto of "bodysurfing for the next generation."

Slyde Handboards is an emerging "surf" brand based out of Venice Beach, California.

The brand promises to deliver "bodysurfing for the next generation."
Standing by their promise, Slyde Handboards donated dozens of handboards to the Junior Lifeguard program in Huntington Beach, California.

The Junior Lifeguard program was established in 1963 to educate youth to have a better understanding and respect the ocean.

The youth of Huntington Beach, ages 9-17, will be the premiere group of Junior Lifeguards to experience Slyde Handboards.

"I have always had upmost respect for lifeguards, and know the Junior Lifeguard program is key to keeping our waters safe and fun. We are very happy Slyde Handboards can add to that experience." said Steve Watts founder of Slyde.

Steve Watts grew up surfing the beaches of South Africa, alongside some of the "worlds greatest surfers," and spent 8 years traveling to many of the world's most elusive surf destinations.

It was thru his travel experiences and his intrinsic "love for the ocean," that Steve saw a need to expand the current surfing platform, creating an alternative surfboard option, which allows everyone to enjoy and learn about the ocean.

The handboards will be used along with paddleboards, kayaks, and surfboards to teach mutual cooperation, lifesaving methods, competitive techniques and overall appreciation for the ocean.

Pedro Jiron is a veteran lifeguard at Huntington Beach and will one of many professional lifeguards to instruct the junior guards this summer.

"We're all really excited to add Slyde handboards to the Junior program this summer. Adults and kids alike are blown away by how cool they look on shore. The coolness helps them overcome any fear of the ocean and they dive right in with their handboards." Said Pedro Jiron
