Small Cloud Providers Favored By Canada Cloud Network

Online, July 13, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The Canada Cloud Network announced the launch of its Cloud Ecosystem Accelerator Program recently, through which it seeks to assist the small cloud service providing firms to stand against the larger players in the market and enjoy the benefits of grabbing a cloud computing contract from the Government. The program will act as the mediator between the firms, that will offer its service and the Government, who will buy it.

According to the Accelerator Program, three accelerator centers will be set up across the country, one each in Ottawa, Toronto and the other in Vancouver. Each center will be responsible for aiming at both the federal and the provincial governments with their respective sales and marketing drive so that a common marketplace can be obtained where all the small and participating firms can come forward to demonstrate their cloud services so as to please the government. The program will also aim at pulling business enterprises that can finance the network.

According to Howard Oliver, an investor in the cloud network said that the locations have been chosen due to their active IT involvement. He added that Ottawa has been chosen due to its proximity towards Governmental activities, while Toronto being the capital city of the country would be the headquarter of the Canada Cloud Network.

Oliver also stated that, the centers will provide infrastructure, platform and software to the firms so that they can easily and efficiently establish cloud computing services in the sectors like, e-government, e-commerce, and such other business activities. However, he firmly clarified that the centers will not be used as business hubs, but will only serve as collaborators for the cloud services providers.

According to Neil McEvoy, the founder of Canada Cloud Network, many a times small firms do not even try to for a government contract as they believe that they are destined to do something larger than that. But the newly launched network will enable the firms to sell themselves as one of the trusted alternatives.
