Online, April 4, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Scene in Winston-Salem and Small Footprint Inc. are excited to launch Treks in the City, a new geo-location-based mobile application for iPhone® and Android®. This application has been designed to create a customizable way to tour downtown Winston-Salem and learn more about stops that best meet users' specific interests. There are pre-set treks in place that focus on history, art, and entertainment, as well as the opportunity to revisit past Scene in Winston-Salem Scavenger Hunt destinations.

The new mobile application debuted at the fourth annual downtown Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, April 2, 2011, and both creating organizations are thrilled with the response to the new mobile app. Available for free, Treks in the City's ad-supported application has quickly exceeded expectations of downloads.

The Treks in the City mobile application uses geo-location technology to identify the users' current location in proximity to a host of other downtown Winston-Salem spots. Users who download the application can experience the following functionality:
- Select a Trek and tour Winston-Salem using particular area of interest, such as Architecture, Entertainment, or a previous Scavenger Hunt.
- Easily find downtown locations and get walking directions from the current spot.
- Share pictures and comments on various Trek locations.
- Visit a related Web site or place a call to a destination directly from the Treks in the City mobile application.

Users of Treks in the City can also create their own treks by utilizing the "My Treks" feature, and users are invited to submit their own comments and user-generated content to add value to the application's experience as it grows.

The Treks in the City mobile app is ad-supported with an ad banner at the bottom of each page.
