SocialGoodies.com, Launching Today, Plans to Change the World and 'The Way We Shop'

Doctors Without Borders, Teach For America & The Nature Conservancy Named as Ongoing Beneficiaries

With an eye on "good deeds and good deals," SocialGoodies.com, a social enterprise that leverages e-commerce and social media marketing to raise money for charity, has aligned with three national charitable organizations to be beneficiaries of its ongoing philanthropic donations program: Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Teach For America and The Nature Conservancy.

Debuting today, Social Goodies launches with more than 58,000 registered users already in place. As the result of an organic, online marketing campaign in March - which pledged a dollar to charity for each new Social Goodies registrant - $20,458 has already been raised by Social Goodies and donated to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake & Pacific Tsunami Relief Efforts.

Social Goodies is creating a fast-growing movement to change the way we shop that is founded on the belief that each of us can find small ways to give back. Social Goodies offers amazing deals to consumers at up to 70% off retail on a wide range of nationally recognized and emerging fashion, beauty, lifestyle and home decor brands and then donates 20% of the gross proceeds of every purchase to one of the website's featured charities, as designated by the customer.

Commented Carie Salter, founder and CEO of Social Goodies, "These nationally recognized charities have demonstrated the ability to make a meaningful impact on our global community: providing medical care to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe; protecting nature and our fragile ecological environment; and helping eliminate educational inequity. Based on personal feedback from Social Goodies registrants, these are some of the issues that truly matter to our community and we are excited to support these worthy causes."

Social Goodies offers a far different approach than most e-commerce sites. While also providing compelling value to both consumers and merchants, philanthropy is clearly the centerpiece of its model. From Social Goodies' vantage point, the word "social" in "social commerce" refers to the fact that the company's single most important priority is creating value for society, not maximizing profits.

More About Social Goodies' Ongoing Beneficiaries:

Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 70 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. MSF reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols. In 1999, MSF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. For more information, visit www.doctorswithoutborders.org

"We are very grateful to Social Goodies for choosing to support Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF)," said Jennifer Tierney, director of development for Doctors Without Borders-USA. "Their generosity will help provide essential emergency medical care to people caught in medical crises, at what could be the most vulnerable moment of their lives. Whether treating children for acute malnutrition, vaccinating against diseases like meningitis or providing aid to people suffering from a natural disaster, Social Goodies' contributions will make a difference in peoples' lives."

Teach For America is a national corps of outstanding recent college graduates who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools, becoming lifelong leaders in expanding educational opportunity. Today, more than 8,200 corps members are teaching in 39 regions across the country while 20,000 Teach For America alumni continue working from inside and outside the field of education for the fundamental changes necessary to ensure educational excellence and equity. "We are grateful for Social Goodies' support of our corps members and alumni, who are working alongside many others to transform the educational and life prospects of students in our nation's highest-need communities," said Eric Scroggins, executive vice president of growth strategy and development for Teach For America. "The engagement of Social Goodies' online community will play a role in helping to ensure that all children have an opportunity to fulfill their academic potential and realize their dreams."

The Nature Conservancy is a leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. The conservancy and its more than 1 million members have protected nearly 120 million acres worldwide. For more information, visit www.nature.org

"What's good for the pocketbook can also be good for the planet," said Valerie Dorian, director, brand marketing and strategic partnerships at The Nature Conservancy. "We appreciate the support from Social Goodies for help in our mission to protect the environment for nature and people."
