Software House Launches New Cheese Grading App

Systems Integration have just launched a new cheese grading application. It's the latest offering from the Staffordshire-based business, who specialise in providing simple solutions to complex food processing problems.

The cheese grading app was originally created for an award winning UK creamery and is revolutionising the way that cheese producers are managing their grading process.

It allows operators to quickly and easily record information through portable, hand-held data capture devices. This speeds up the data entry process and also enables operators to access information on any product or batch with ease. Data can be found within seconds, wherever a product is located and even if a batch is spread across multiple sites.

The application also allows operators to quickly and easily re-grade cheese throughout the maturation process. When the grading information for a particular block of cheese is updated, it automatically changes the product code for all items in that batch. This means that management always have an accurate and up to date view of graded stock levels.

The cheese grading application also ensures traceability right back to culture. Management are able to identify which items are reaching full maturity, as well as understanding the reasons why some are not. Business analysis reports ensure that it's easy to identify trends in poor performance and understand if the problem stems from the raw materials going into the product, or an error during processing. In addition, reports can be automatically generated and distributed. This removes the need to manually collate and email information, saving time and improving accuracy.

The Integreater® product range covers all areas of processing - from intake through to despatch. The cheese grading application can work on its own or as part of the full suite of products, all of which have been designed to interface with third party software and hardware.

CEO Rob Stephens stated: "Our research shows that while cheese processors are reaping the benefits of automation in other areas in the factory, they are failing to apply these principles to the grading process. Obviously, cheese will always be graded manually, but the benefits of capturing and storing this information electronically far outweigh the cost of the application. It improves the accuracy of data and saves time by automating the collation, analysis and distribution of information in reports. It also ensures that management have complete visibility, enabling them to understand where they can make improvements".
