SolarOne has announced the launch of the new Solo Stand Alone Lighting System for commercial pathways and residential roadways.
The Solo platform is SolarOne's answer to the need for simplicity, aesthetics and affordability in a solar powered lighting system. This Made-in-the-USA system features a unique stainless steel mounting and luminaire design along with a support package that will make solar powered lighting more accessible.
Ilze Greene, Sales and Marketing Director explained, "We're naming the system "Solo" for a couple of reasons. First, the system operates autonomously, without depending on the grid or any outside wiring. Second, we are providing enough standardization to allow users or specifiers to select systems and performance on their own."
Selecting and specifying solar powered lighting involves many variables including climate, latitude, shading, lighting profiles, dimming and energy management. Sorting through all of the options can be time consuming and confusing. For this reason, SolarOne has developed a focused offering that will not address every need but that will provide a simple solution for pathways, low security parking and residential roadway applications in many instances.
Specifiers, contractors and end-users can access simple to use tools to estimate solar performance (hours of lighting and profile capabilities) for specific locations as well as typical spacing for various lighting applications. For specifiers, Instabase files can be loaded from the AGI website.
The system uses SolarOne's LB800 light bar with < 90% efficient optics that deliver exceptional uniformity and control. The luminaire is a full cutoff stainless steel fixture featuring an easy to use simplex mounting mechanism. The co-coordinated decorative mounting adds contemporary style to the system. Batteries and controls are pre-wired and stored in a sleek enclosure that is mounted to a clear-coat silver pole.
SolarOne is committed to using United States manufacturing whenever it can, and this system features hard to find USA solar modules as well as other components. SolarOne President, Moneer Azzam states, "Solar power is an important part of our country's energy development and we can't lose sight of the importance of domestic capabilities in this area."
