The SoundStorm library, seven-time nominee and winner of an Academy Award® for Best Sound Editing, has been licensed to Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology.

May 13, 2010 - The legendary Hollywood SoundStormïƒ" Sound Effects Library has been licensed to the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology in London, Ontario, Canada. OIART students can listen to, edit, design, and learn from the library created by the SoundStorm team that garnered six Academy Awardïƒ' nominations (Batman Forever, Clear and Present Danger, The Fugitive, Under Siege, Space Cowboys, and LA Confidential) and won an Oscarïƒ' for best sound editing for "The Ghost and the Darkness."

"Now students at OIART will get the real world experience of working with SoundStorm, a library created by some of the best in the business and used by Sound Editors at four major motion picture film studios in Los Angeles." Ken Trevenna, Director of Operations, OIART Inc.

Rob Nokes and Sounddogs.comïƒ" are now the custodians of SoundStorm and its rich twenty years of Hollywood sound history. The Sounddogs.com team has transferred seven thousand DAT tapes of recordings and scanned approximately forty thousand pages of pdf documentation that traces the history of the library and the sound editors that created it.

OIART's relationship to Nokes dates back to 1989-90 when he graduated from the audio school. Nokes stated, "I found work immediately in the audio industry. Ken and the staff made me aware of the possibilities of working as an audio professional, fortunately I enrolled." Nokes is also the Supervising Sound Editor on the hit Fox TV series "Bones" and is currently recording sound effects for the upcoming Disney feature film "Real Steel" starring Hugh Jackman.
