South Carolina Training Company Supports Certification For Life Program
Online, August 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of South Carolina recently announced its support of CompTIA's "Certification for Life" strategy by affording partners with an opportunity to attain "grandfather" status into the ISO 10724 program.
As of January 11, 2011, individuals achieving CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications, three of the leading vendor-neutral IT credentials, will have to support their certification with CEU credits or re-examination every three years. According to the newly published CompTIA Certification Renewal Policy, anyone who certifies for the A+, Network+, or Security+ titles will have a "valid through" date printed on their certificates. For those currently certified, or for those achieving the credential by years' end, the certification will be "grandfathered" into the ISO 10724 program, and will be considered valid for life.
According to Jeff Moses, owner of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of South Carolina, "this new certification expiration schema, while lending increased credibility to the programs, will have substantial costs associated with it for those that need to maintain the credentials for their employment status."
To help mitigate future expenses associated with re-examination or CEU credits, Moses recommends organizations consider expediting credentialing prior to years' end, when grandfathering will expire. He states, "Any organization that is considering CompTIA certification training in 2011 will save roughly $75 - $375 per-person in CEU fees, plus the costs associated with travel, time-lost, etc. These costs are incurred only every three years, but if you have a number of multi-certified employees, it will definitely add up."
To help organizations address the pending certification changes, and to help businesses eliminate future re-certification costs, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of SC is affording bundled access to CompTIA certification through 2010. "Everyone considering CompTIA certification training for their employees in 2011 should strongly consider moving their plans up a bit to Q-4 of 2010 and we're doing what we can to help people eliminate future costs," said Moses.
