Robelle Domain is the town park and cultural recreational heart of Springfield City opened on Sunday 29th of May by the Queensland Premier Anna Bligh and Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan. 10,000 people enjoyed what has been described as the new 'Southbank of Ipswich.' The $27million parkland is an innovative delivery model involving collaboration between Vee Design and the landscape contractor, Jmac Constructions, with efficiencies in design and value for money, allowing the Ipswich City Council to reinvest savings back into the project ensuring maximum delivery on the ground, for the enjoyment of the community.

Robelle Domain Parklands has just won the Australia Institute of Landscape Architects Queensland 2011 Design Award in Landscape Architecture. The park was designed by Vee Design, a Brisbane based international company. The lead designer and Director of Vee Design, David Hatherly has described the park design features as a diverse recreational program to meet a wide variety of users. Its form and function is strongly connected to the site's natural character and its inherent ecological values. Ipswich City Council and the Ipswich City community were heavily engaged throughout the design and planning process through a series of workshops and charettes.

Every night at 6:30 pm, the centre of the park erupts to life with a special sound and light show. It aims to create a comfortable environment for park users to active the space and engage all sorts of activities even in the evening. Another new initiative of the park is to implement the very first innovative play equipment that combines electronic computer based play with active recreation based play in the kid's playground within the parkland.

The award winning Robelle Domain Parklands designed by Vee Design has represented unique and identifiable parklands worthy of the "centre piece" and the vision of the fully urbanised Springfield CBD, balancing the existing and future recreational needs of a Greater Springfield community. This development is a diverse, flexible and sustainable recreational program seamlessly planned and designed into the fabric of the park. It is also the integration of new technologies inclusive of a high-tech Community Entertainment precinct incorporating light, sound and projection infrastructure.
