Southern Coast Enterprises, Inc. Sponsors the American Heart and Stroke Association's Annual "Heart Ball"

Deerfield Beach, May 29, 2015 (Newswire.com) - ​​Southern Coast Enterprises, Inc. sponsored this year’s Annual Heart Ball on behalf of the American Heart and Stroke Association, where the event aimed to raise funds to combat heart disease and stroke – two leading killers of American men and women.

Last year, the Heart Ball events raised close to $73 million with support from over 100,000 individuals and corporations nationwide, allowing the American Heart and Stroke Association to fund research and programs across the country and in communities.

Southern Coast also participated in this year’s annual “Heart Walk”, where the event aimed to raise more than $1 million to tackle heart disease and stroke. There was an estimated attendance of 10,000 people who completed the 5-kilometer course around the campus, including a group of about 20 from Southern Coast Enterprises. Joining those walking were many children and dogs, and some did the course in wheelchairs.

The American Heart and Stoke Association is a very dear cause to Southern Coast. Mary Ann Grass, Office Manager of Southern Coast Enterprises, passed away last April due to complications of stroke and heart disease. Mary Ann was is Maggie Barrett’s sister, who with husband Skip Barrett own the company. In addition, another Southern Coast colleague is a survivor of a heart attack.

Southern Coast has donated over $10,000 to the American Heart and Stroke Association this year alone.
