Sovex Retains British Workers!
Online, December 21, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Many manufacturers are moving production abroad in an effort to cut costs, but not Sovex. Following its takeover of FKI, the conveyor specialist is retaining workers at its newly acquired Gainsborough factory, and expanding operations there to create jobs for people living in the area.
David Lindfield, Managing Director at Sovex, says; "If manufacturing in the UK is going to grow then companies need to support it. British engineers are among the best in the world and feedback from our customers proves there is a demand for home-built products. Sovex has a strong domestic output, one that will get bigger as we take on people at Gainsborough."
Sovex is enjoying a period of unprecedented growth, and acquired FKI to help it keep up with increasing customer demands. The 300,000 square foot factory in Gainsborough is the UK's largest purpose built conveyor manufacturing facility. It will work alongside the company's Prenton site to build high quality conveying equipment.
Sovex has exciting plans for Gainsborough. It intends to offer existing workers a range of training courses, and expand production to include telescopic boom conveyors. This will create a wealth of job opportunities and bring prosperity to the local economy.
David further commented; "At a time when there is a lot of pessimism around, particularly in the UK manufacturing sector, this is a real success story. The Gainsborough site and its engineering skills will help Sovex dominate the conveyor market in 2010."
