"Spindrift Energy" To Present At The "Alternative Energy Now" Conference
Online, February 21, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The novel "Spindrift Energy" deep-sea wave energy device will be presented and discussed at the "5th Annual Alternative Energy NOW" conference, being held at the "Shades of Green Resort" at Lake Buena Vista, Florida, February 23-24, 2011. We are available for an interview, time-permitting, either in person or over the phone before and after our presentation.
The new deep-sea-capable ocean wave-energy conversion technology, created by "Spindrift Energy", is extremely rugged and simple, with only 3 moving parts. In a Spindrift Energy device, nothing bends, flaps, slides, etc. The only external motion is the spinning of the turbine and its attached shaft. Because of its simplicity and durability, the Spindrift Energy device promises to survive storms, and the generally harsh conditions, at sea, and to operate for many years with only minimal maintenance.
Furthermore, because of its simplicity, the cost of constructing each device promises to be low in comparison to other wave energy devices. A 500-kW Spindrift device is expected to cost less than $800 per kW (of average output), and to generate power for less than $0.02 per kWh (post-ROI, not levelized). This power-generation cost is cheaper even than the cost of electrical power generated by coal-fired power plants.
And, because these devices are free-floating, farms of these devices can operate both near-to-shore and in the deep sea - allowing farms of these devices to scale virtually without limit.
About "Spindrift Energy":
Spindrift Energy is a startup dedicated to the development and commercialization of their proprietary wave-energy technology. Two sea trials have validated the design concept. Domestic and international patents have been filed and are pending.
More information about this technology is available from the company website at http://www.spindriftenergy.com
