Spring Brings Colors To The Himalayas

Trekking in the Nepalese Himalayas in Spring is all different. Spring adds colors to the verdant buttresses of the Himalayas making the entire vista jolly.

The changing colors, phantasmagoria of lights and different positioning of sun makes the Himalayas always exciting. Winter extends the snow territory to its bases paralyzing life across the Himalayan country. Sunny days of Spring replenish the vegetation and makes life springs to its full swing once again. Terraced fields will be covered in yellow blossoms of mustard. Stripes of green and yellow are dotted with white saggy cherry blossoms.

In the higher reaches red and pink rhododendron dominates the vegetation. Under the shed of foliage hangs down Orchids in different colors. Astride the trekking trail stands shrubby Daphne Indica. The giants of Himalayas looming at a distance makes a perfect background for it to be picturesque.
Spring days in the Himalayas are warm and sunny with cool night and morning. However temperature differs with rising altitude. Steep landscape that reaches to the top of the world from as low as 70 m within a distance of 200 km is the cause of Himalayan bio-diversity.

Himalayan trekking normally starts from the foothills with charming villages. With the arrival of spring, number of trekkers swell up and the family run lodges remains busy catering trekkers. Their gardens are teaming with seasonal vegetables and conditioning herbs, most of them organic. Family members work together during rush hours. School going adolescence deals with trekkers, take orders and serves with smile.

The higher reaches have too steep landscape and adverse weather to be self sufficient in vegetables and other edibles. This is where farmers and other individuals from the lower villages are benefited . They take the contract of supplying fresh vegetables from the foothills or the near by market.

Spring brings life to these mountains and help sustain its nature and culture. Tourism helps locals realize the value of their natural resources and cultural heritages.
