Spring Health Expands Mental Health Solution With Digital Therapeutic Tools From Lantern

Company plans to offer the industry's only clinically validated, end-to-end behavioral health solution later this year

Spring Health

Spring Health, a comprehensive mental health benefit for employers, today announced its plan to incorporate a suite of digital cognitive behavioral therapy programs from Lantern. Available later this year, the enhanced Spring Health solution will be the industry’s only clinically validated, end-to-end behavioral health solution proven to be more effective than traditional mental healthcare.

Founded in 2016, Spring Health pioneered a new approach - precision mental healthcare - that leverages millions of data points to tailor interventions to the right person at the right time, and predict what is most likely to help them recover. Following a dynamic assessment, members are given a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan, paired with a care navigator for comprehensive support throughout their mental health journey, and given access to Spring Health’s network of vetted providers. The Spring Health process is backed by proprietary machine learning technology, which has been clinically validated and proven to increase recovery rates 2X, shortening the average recovery time by seven weeks.

The addition of Lantern’s programming further expands Spring Health’s global platform, which connects employees with the right form of care from the start - whether that is therapy, psychiatry or digital behavioral health tools. Available for current clients later this year with broad roll out shortly after, Spring Health’s enhanced platform will include web and mobile programs using cognitive behavioral therapy techniques for anxiety, stress and body image, as well as exercises to build healthy habits.

“Mental health is not ‘one size fits all.’ Given the growing epidemic of mental health, it’s more critical than ever to acknowledge the individual needs of every person, and to provide them with the care that’s precisely right for them,” said April Koh, chief executive officer and co-founder, Spring Health. “Because Spring Health was built on science, we are uniquely qualified to do this at scale. With the addition of Lantern’s digital cognitive behavioral therapy tools, we are now able to offer the most comprehensive mental health solution on the market - from early detection to full recovery - that has been clinically validated by more than 30 peer reviewed papers.”

In addition, Alejandro Foung, former chief executive officer and co-founder of Lantern, will be joining Spring Health’s Board of Advisors. Alejandro co-founded Lantern in 2012, with a focus on improving emotional wellbeing through personalized programming, guided exercises, and conversations with coaches, all via a mobile app. Similar to Spring Health, Lantern’s approach was based on rigorous scientific research. Its eating disorder prevention program was proven across half the number of people who develop eating disorders.
