Squanky Kong Issues 90-Day Warning For "Imminent Insurrection"
The Los Angeles based Rock band Squanky Kong officially announced the release date of the new EP, Imminent Insurrection, with a new live band line-up and more to follow. All apart of a new approach to a changing music business while trying to better engage a rapidly growing social media following and expanding fan base.
Los Angeles, CA, June 15, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The rock band Squanky Kong has set a release date of 9-15-2015 for a new extended play record titled,“Imminent Resurrection”. The first single, A Repeat That Arises, is to be made available online 7-15-2015.
Squanky Kong is described as Hybrid Rock with influences across a broad range of the Rock genres, infused with hints of Jazz, Funk, Classical, Blues, Reggae, EDM, and more. The band is led by writer/producer James M. House whom also performs known for his virtuosic playing while switching between guitar and six-string bass. The frontman for the band is Joseph Michael (ex-White Wizzard, Midnight Reign). The rest of the band is currently made up of Lamar Little on Drums and Tarry McHailen also switching on guitar and bass, with talk of adding more members soon.
"Record labels and management do not develop artists and bands like they once did, it's sink or swim. Meanwhile the market is vast and over-saturated, demanding the same kind of backing for proper development as always, if not more. There is luck, but realistically an artist has no choice but to take fate into their own hands and think business"
James M. House, Producer/ Writer/ Band Leader
Imminent Insurrection is the first release seen from Squanky Kong since 2010, when the Raven Rock Remixes EP followed the 2008 independent album debut,”Under a Raven's Review”. This new release is debuting the new frontman Joseph Michael and a more focused direction and sound of House's music. As with previous releases, House is playing all the guitar and bass on the studio work. There are also keyboard contributions on one song by House's longtime friend Joseph Wooten (Steve Miller Band and Victor Wooten Band) whom was also featured on the 2008 album extensively.
Previously only a product of studio productions, House has been piecing together and rehearsing a stable live band this past year in Los Angeles to begin engaging a growing fan base. Squanky Kong has seen fast growth on social media, despite not having a live band, new material, or a whole lot of activity, recently passing 75,000 likes on Facebook, with an increasing average rate of over 1000 per week in the past 6 months.
The the new release, and newly forming live band, will be joined with music videos, new merchandise, and other materials supporting one major upcoming event. House plans to use his background in business to start a private investment campaign in the near future. By exchanging equity in the music and business of Squanky Kong, he hopes to put together a proper budget to fully engage the growing market and fan base. In a music industry that is essentially turned upside down, House stresses the need to try different approaches to artist development.
