Let's Talk About… Prairies, Conservation and Energy

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center’s Conversations Series will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Danforth Center, 975 N. Warson Road.  A reception will begin the night at 5:15 p.m. and the program will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. Featured panelists are Peter Raven, Ph.D., President Emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden and Rudi Roeslein, CEO of Roeslein Associates, a company that designs and builds manufacturing systems. The program will feature prestigious conservation and energy advocates discussing the role of prairies in conservation of natural ecosystems and their importance for production of next-generation biofuels.

About the Speakers

Peter Raven, Ph.D., President Emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden
Peter is one of the world's leading botanists and advocates for conservation and biodiversity. In recognition of his work in science and conservation, he is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, including the prestigious International Prize for Biology from the government of Japan and the U.S. National Medal of Science, the country's highest award for scientific accomplishment.

Rudi Roeslein, CEO of Roeslein Associates
Rudi is an advocate for prairie and wildlife restoration, he is a recipient of the Prairie Landowner of the Year award given by the Missouri Prairie Foundation and the founder of Roeslein Alternative Energy. One of its current projects, with Murphy-Brown LLC of northern Missouri, aims to restore 30 million acres of highly erodible marginable land that could provide countless benefits to people, nature and wildlife if restored to native grasslands.
