St. Meatentine's Day Creator Interviewed on The Dave and Steve Show
Steve Haverly, creator of the St. Meatentine's Day event, which is to be held at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, WA, sat down to discuss the band lineup and events surrounding this new "Holiday."
Online, April 7, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Steve Haverly put it simple to the cast of The Dave and Steve Show when he sat down recently to discuss his newly-created Holiday.
"Women want to know if men care about Valentine's Day? No. We don't care about Valentine's Day. We do it because we have to."
But unlike most guys who just go along with it and buy candy and flowers for that someone special, Haverly, co-host of the "Guys Tell All" panel on the "Today Show," instead decided to take action.
"I just thought, "Why? Why don't we have a Holiday that we can look forward to?""
And with that one simple thought, St. Meatentine's Day was born. According to Haverly, St. Meatentine is "the Patron Saint of all that is thick, juicy, and pink in the middle."
And while this may all sound like a joke, Steve's event grows bigger by the day.
"We originally wanted to have it at a buddy's farm, Black Dog Farms, but it quickly spread through Facebook and took on a mind of its own."
The event is now scheduled to take place at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, WA, and includes a line-up of bands, tons of meat, support from local restaraunts, and even major media coverage.
"It's the absolute opposite of Valentine's Day. It's six months later on August 14th. That was only fitting. My catchphrase is "Beef, beer, bands and baseball," because we're going to have the Tacoma Rainiers play a game too."
Now while this may sound like an event centered squarley at guys, Haverly wants to make it clear that both sexes can enjoy the celebration of beef, much in the same way that both men and women take part in the celebration of love each February 14th.
And as if Steve's new event isn't already large enough, he's got even bigger plans for it in the future.
"We're going to make this a National Holiday. You can do that."
