Startup Palm Beach Brings 6 Startups to Downtown West Palm Beach

On Thursday, March 6th, 2014, West Palm Beach's first entrepreneur resource center and startup incubator will officially open its doors in downtown West Palm Beach.

It started with two surfers from Palm Beach County, Florida. Nick Mohnacky and Chris Callahan were in the throes of launching an app called Surfr when they realized that the resources for entrepreneurs in West Palm Beach were as scarce as the waves are plentiful. And so they set out to fix that problem by launching a second initiative: Startup Palm Beach.

"We are bringing the next generation economy to Palm Beach County," said co-founder and President Chris Callahan. "We are creating an affordable, collaborative place for entrepreneurs to flourish through education and mentorship - to Think. Build. Grow."

With the growing demand for a strong foundation for economic growth through entrepreneurship, the new space offers a framework for personal and professional growth to innovative and determined individuals.

Startup Palm Beach supports business driven innovation and provides educational workshops, mentorship programs, and funding initiatives to promote entrepreneurship. In the two weeks since opening, Startup Palm Beach has already made strategic introductions and helped companies receive commitments of over $200,000 in investment.

"If we didn't create Startup Palm Beach, we would've likely moved to California because of the opportunity for Surfr in the tech space," said CEO Nicholas Mohnacky. "However, Chris and I decided to build an entrepreneur and tech hub right here in downtown West Palm Beach."
