Online, March 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - StarView Solutions, an industry leader of business-ready Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) solutions, today announced the acquisition of Backbone for Business, a software consulting company that specializes in enterprise web applications and innovative software solutions. The acquisition will now allow StarView to deploy additional features and upgrades to PRISM, StarView's cloud-based activation service that allows communication service providers to dynamically sell, activate, and manage existing services. It also provides the foundation for providers wanting to deploy new applications to provision and sell seamlessly over the web without having to completely upgrade their existing networks or infrastructure.
"This is a tremendous step towards our corporate and product growth initiatives. Backbone for Business helped us with the development and launch of PRISM," said David Walsh President of StarView Solutions. "As a result of the acquisition, we now have the full ownership of Aquifer, proprietary software developed by Backbone for Business which enables PRISM's SaaS architecture and will allow StarView to quickly add further development initiatives in the near future." he stated.
Aquifer is a unique, base software platform for building highly scalable, configurable, and extendable software systems and it is engineered to be the core infrastructure behind custom Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. It provides a highly flexible data management layer that directly supports very large, multi-tenant applications that can easily be delivered by Web based interface, Web services, and other methods. The flexibility of the platform also provides for easy integration with other systems.
The business relationship initially began in early 2010 when StarView contracted Backbone for Business to work on OSS solutions. During the assessment phase of StarView's needs and requirements, both companies realized that there is a need for a scalable OSS platform with an integrated service broker cloud to manage all of the different components associated with providing VoIP services. Working closely together, the two companies developed PRISM, which allows VoIP service providers to manage their businesses up to 75% more efficiently. Businesses that have benefited from utilizing PRISM include call centers, cable companies, telecommunications and OSS/Billing providers, just to name a few.
"The acquisition is a natural fit for both companies. We have a great working relationship with StarView and we recognize the enormous market opportunities with the PRSIM platform -- we want to continue to be part of the expansion of PRISM as well as corporate growth plans through additional product development efforts." said Chris Murphy, Owner of Backbone for Business.
The staff at Backbone for Business has been integrated into StarView's key management positions. Chris Murphy has been named Vice President of Software Development and Eric Maginniss has been named Chief Software Architect. StarView is providing online demos to companies interested in improving their VoIP operations. Visit www.starviewsolutions.com for more information.
