Staycationers Launch Online Guide to Ventura, California
Online, August 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - As long time residents of the laid back southern California beach city, Michael Mendelson and Angela Rosales, have made a habit of exploring Ventura like tourists in their own town. To put all this "research" to use, these avid staycationers created www.fun-in-Ventura.com as a user-friendly resource for fellow Venturans and out-of-town visitors. The result is a comprehensive online guide that features fun things to do in Ventura and a venue supporting local businesses, artists and the historical preservation of the city and surrounding areas.
Diverse as Ventura itself, the site covers such topics as agritourism in Ventura, best California beaches (in Ventura), California wine tasting, family fun activities, Ventura nightlife and more. Other noteworthy sections include an extensive Ventura history timeline and an "In the Spotlight" page with in-depth interviews highlighting people and businesses positively impacting the community. The current "In the Spotlight" section features Ventura Breeze founder and editor, Sheldon Brown. The site also contains submissions from visitors who contribute their own shared stories, photos and ideas.
Like many Ventura residents, this husband and wife team is passionate about the city in which they work and live. Angela notes "The great thing about Ventura is that no matter how diverse the residents are, we are united in the passion for our town. This kind of deep rooted passion gives Ventura that non-touristy feeling. Our goal is to promote the best of Ventura for insiders and visitors alike by highlighting the people, places and businesses that make Ventura special."
Fun-in-Ventura was mostly recently spotted at Ventura's annual 4th of July downtown street fair where they teamed up with renowned local artists, Sarah Kalvin and Nina Danza to promote Ventura's thriving art scene. They were also recent guests on Coach Ron Tunick's local radio show, "The Business of Life," and have plans to make regular guest appearances. Other plans include offering contests with prizes that promote local businesses, the launch of an e-newsletter and website page additions featuring local dog-friendly places, Ventura camping and more inexpensive ideas and fun things to do in Ventura.
In order to maintain content integrity, Fun-in-Ventura does not charge a fee to be listed on the site. However, for businesses who want more in-depth exposure, Fun-in-Ventura offers a unique media package to help get the word out. Anyone interested in listing on the site or for more information should contact Michael or Angela through www.fun-in-Ventura.com.
