Steve Levine Joins Bobcom
Online, May 10, 2011 (Newswire.com) - STEVE LEVINE JOINS BOBCOM TEAM
BOBCOM, the leading online community championing independent artists in the UK, today announced that Steve Levine will be joining the management team as Head of Advocacy. Steve will be responsible for overseeing the Fasttrack initiatives and increasing the level of awareness BOBCOM amongst the music community.
Steve is a world renowned British record producer, and is most famous for his work on Culture Club's multi platinum albums. Other collaborations include The Beach Boys, Motorhead and Ziggy Marley. Steve is chairman of the Music Producer's Guild, the owner of Hubris Records Ltd and a director of PRS for music. He also created and co-presents the BBC Radio 2 & 6 Music programme 'The Record Producers', highly-rated documentary series which focuses on the art of record production. The series has focused on such luminaries as Sir George Martin with The Beatles, Brian Wilson with the Beach Boys, The Clash and The Bee Gees.
"Steve is one of the most well respected music figures, not just in Britain but throughout the world," said Mike Feeney Callan, CEO of BOBCOM. "The fact that Steve feels passionately about what we're trying to achieve and is keen to put support behind us is good news for us ... and for independent music. We're delighted Steve has joined the team and we're excited about his ideas for empowering new artists in the BOBCOM community."
In less than a year, BOBCOM has provided initiatives for its users that have put a new band in Abbey Road Studios to record an EP, and placed four unsigned acts in its landmark Channel 4 television series, Sounds from the Cities. BOBCOM's Fasttrack continues to provides ever-renewing blue chip opportunities for its growing online community. One of Steve's first responsibilities will be to oversee the latest Fasttrack initiative (competition ends July 1st) which offers artists the chance to make their mark on the industry, joining John Lennon's original Quarrymen on stage at Liverpool's Cavern to mark fifty years since the Beatles headlined there.
"Nurturing, mentoring and encouraging talented songwriters and performers is key to the ongoing success of the music industry,"said Steve Levine. "BOBCOM provides all the different aspects that aspiring and established independent artists need to be successful, and it's great to be part of that. Already in my short time with BOBCOM I've seen the potential the current independent music scene, and more people should be aware of what these guys are doing to help artists. I hope through my own network and by helping to promote the Fasttrack initiatives we will accomplish much in the months ahead."
