Steven Farmer Is ICON

Looking at a painting, particularly Neo-Expressionistic art is to penetrate beyond the surface of the canvas to travel through it and experience it's depth. Pylle Emporium and Gallery are proud to present Steven Farmers 3rd Exhibition, ICON.

Steven Farmers ICON Exhibition is nothing like anything seen before in the Galleries of Somerset.

He sets out to push the boundaries of contemporary painting. The passion, depth and intrigue to this collection are truly captivating, transporting you to the curiosity of your imagination.

I've had the pleasure of viewing his work at the Mauger Modern Art Gallery where he was exhibiting alongside legendary artists Andy Warhol, Banksy and Keith Harring. As I walked around the gallery each and every painting continued to beg the viewer to interact with it, to ask how they were created. The answer is in the visionary creativity that is the mind of the artist.

ICON is the 3rd exhibition from Steven Farmer, the strong, Basquiatan, colourful yet graceful mystery in each work of art strives to occupy the viewer, letting them add their own connotation to each picture. Steven's intuitive use of light, colour (he never uses black or grey in any of his work-a subtle form of rebellion) is paramount in capturing his subject in an anomalous way. ICON challenges the viewer to come up with their own conclusions about his work. He has strived to present a body of work that will intrigue the most curious of minds. ICON does not follow a linear path, instead the paintings should be viewed at the viewers' discretion, with no specific painting chosen to mark the start or finish.

ICON exhibition is the first of its kind for Somerset. The exhibition pushes the spectator to look beyond the obvious and question what they see at first glance.

The depth and passion evoked in these paintings take Neo-Expressionism to a whole new level.
