Stokes Kia in Goose Creek Shares Details About New Kia Rondo

Online, August 27, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Kia recently released some teaser images that give consumers an idea of what the newly redesigned 2013 Kia Rondo could look like. The Kia Rondo has been out of production for years, but the refreshed version will be available at Stokes Kia in Goose Creek, SC for the 2013 model year.

The Kia Rondo is a crossover utility vehicle capable of seating up to seven passengers. Its incredible versatility has made it a very popular vehicle overseas, but the Rondo's benign styling left much to be desired for North American drivers. As a result, production of the Rondo ceased at the end of the 2010 model year, but Kia did not give up on rejuvenating the impressively functional Rondo. This effort is evident in the teaser photos recently leaked for the Rondo's European cousin, the Carens.

The pictures released by Motor Authority (www.motorauthority.com), show a much sleeker and bold vehicle than the previous version of the Rondo. A sporty cab-forward design is accented by a low roofline and large wheels. The Motor Authority was also able to obtain some spy shots, and even though the Rondo is covered in camouflage, the refreshed design is still easy to make out. No one is certain when the exterior accents of the 2013 Kia Rondo will not be unveiled, but some speculate that it will be at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Powertrain options for the European version of the Rondo have not been confirmed, but they should include a 1.7-liter turbodiesel rated at 115 horsepower and 118 lb.-ft. of torque and a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder that generates 136 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. These engines are for the European Rondo, but the production numbers should be fairly similar to what is released in North America.
