STOP School Violence Act to Provide Funding for Programs Like STOPit
STOPit Aligns with Federal Act Focused on School Safety
HOLMDEL, N.J., March 19, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The U.S. House of Representatives has passed HR 4909 which is designed to provide a minimum injection of $50 million per year for the next 10 years to help fund programs such as STOPit. Passed by a convincing margin, it now moves on to the U.S. Senate and early signals from President Trump look positive that he will sign the bill.
STOPit has been adding school programs across the country and there are now STOPit schools in 42 states - with this unrivaled national expansion achieved in just four years. “In this school year alone, STOPit schools have managed over 18,000 incident reports. There is no doubt on the effectiveness of the platform and its universal appeal to students, as well as school administrations using the system to keep their schools safe,” stated Neil Hooper, CRO STOPit.
“The focus on school safety has been powerful. STOPit customers can coordinate with local law enforcement and other first responders, and SROs are armed with instant notifications from the STOPit system,” continued Hooper. “We look forward to the injection of federal funding to help schools put their STOPit program in place to STOP School Violence.”
The STOP School Violence Act was the first school safety-focused measure to pass in the House since the horrible tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The bipartisan vote of 407 to 10 saw only five Democrats and five Republicans vote against the bill.
