Stories for Chip by Rosarium Publishing Garners Locus Award Nomination
Greenbelt, MD, May 6, 2016 (Newswire.com) - This week, the Locus Science Fiction Foundation announced the top five finalists in each category of the 2016 Locus Awards. Rosarium Publishing’s Stories for Chip: A Tribute to Samuel R. Delany, was nominated in the Anthology category. Several prestigious writers in the genre of science-fiction literature contributed to the book, including Nalo Hopkinson, Eileen Gunn, Junot Diaz and Michael Swanwick.
Edited by author Nisi Shawl and Rosarium founder and author Bill Campbell, Stories for Chip pays homage to Samuel R. “Chip” Delany, a prolific science-fiction writer, professor, intellectual, literary critic, and openly gay man. Delany grew up at a time when just two of those titles (much less all five) were rare for African-American men.
Delany is a black man, and thus a racial minority; he's a gay man, and thus a sexual minority; he's dyslexic, and thus disabled. Yet instead of winding up murdered or in prison or addicted or insane he has made this incredibly moving art for us to experience.

The anthology has been lauded as a wonderful retelling of both the genius and the struggle that Delany experienced as well as showcasing a variety of talented writers, many of whom happen to be marginalized voices themselves. The diversity of talent and the quality of writing found in Stories for Chip are both a testament to the pioneer that Delany was.
The Locus Awards were created by the Locus Science Fiction Foundation and their monthly Science Fiction and Fantasy magazine Locus and are based in Oakland, California. The award winners are selected by poll of magazine readers. Locus Award Winners will be announced during the Locus Awards Weekend in Seattle WA, June 24-26, 2016.
