Study Shows Women Prefer Older Men

Women prefer older men according to new research carried out by online dating website MrRight.com.au.

According to the study, women contact men older than themselves 6 out of 10 times (59%). Only 27% of the contacts initiated by women went to men in their age range, and 14% went to guys younger than themselves.

Of note, men aged 45 and above are popular with women of all ages. Women between 25 and 29 were almost four times more likely to contact men aged 45 and above than guys in their age range. Likewise, women between 30 and 34 were twice as likely to contact men aged 45 and above.

Girls between 18 and 24 were the exception to the rule. Their preference goes first to guys in their age range.

Matt Right, director, online dating website MrRight.com.au, comments: "Men who are mature tend to be more self-aware and in tune to their partner's needs. They often put more effort into creating a great online dating profile, with thoughtful text about their goals and aspirations. This resonates with women in powerful ways."

Study methodology:
MrRight.com.au reviewed all contacts initiated by women on its online dating service between February 1st and February 13th 2011. On MrRight.com.au, women choose who can contact them: they add guys they like to their Man Cart to open a communication channel. This study captures all guys added to cart over the period.
