Subaru Outback to go WiFi
Subaru has announced that they will be offering Mobile WiFi on their 2011 Outback. Access will be available to ten or more users up to 150 feet away.
Online, August 16, 2010 (Newswire.com) - MCHENRY, IL... Subaru has recently announced that the new 2011 Subaru Outback will be a wireless hotspot with Mobile WiFi access provided by the company's Mobile Internet System. The WiFi hotspot provided by the vehicle will offer Internet connectivity for ten or more users up to 150 feet away.
The new '11 Subaru Outback Mobile WiFi works by utilizing the currently in-place 3G network and offers an encrypted connection with download speeds averaging 400kbps-1.2mbps. This speed should be more than sufficient for browsing web pages and managing email on the road. The system also stays active while the vehicle is in motion, so all the passengers can enjoy the mobile hotspot as well.
Dixie Gilmore, VP/GM of Gary Lang Auto Group said, "A system like this would greatly help daily commuters and traveling business professionals with their work while on the road." She also went on to mention how, "this new technology should make long family road trips safer and easier for all involved by providing instant access to roadmaps for the parents and entertainment for the kids."
The 2011 Subaru Outback Mobile WiFi access is provided by Autonet Mobile, who is the world's first in-car Internet service provider.
