Success for Mott MacDonald Bentley in the Midlands
Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) has picked up three prestigious accolades at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) West Midlands Annual Awards.
Online, June 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The ceremony, held at the International Conference Centre in central Birmingham, was attended by over 300 engineering professionals and paid tribute to the "excellence" of engineering schemes and initiatives delivered during 2011.
The 'One Supply Chain West Non-Infrastructure' (OSC West NI) co-located partnership between Severn Trent Water, MMB and Hyder AECOM JV won the Partnership Award.
Formed in 2009 to deliver Severn Trent Water's AMP5 investment programme in water and wastewater across their western operating region, the OSC West NI partnership is actively working on over 90 schemes at any one time, and through its Community Group has raised over £10,000 for a number of regional charities.
In presenting the award, the ICE judges all agreed that the project "was a very well put together submission which focused on partnership and represented a successful delivery vehicle."
MMB's Shifnal Train Station induction process - which sends employees on a 'train journey' that stops at five 'stations' that each communicates key themes - was Highly Commended by ICE in the communication category because it "demonstrated excellent communication of key themes and messages to its relevant audience."
MMB's project to maintain the quality of the public water supply for 24,000 people at Milford Borehole Pumping Station (BPS) in Staffordshire was also Highly Commended by the judges in the 'sustainability' category.
Summing up, Alastair Templeton, Chairman of ICE West Midlands, said, "This year's awards show the diversity of the work delivered by civil engineers in our region.
"These awards have been an opportunity to recognise the contribution they [civil engineers] make to society and I would like to congratulate all of the winners and highly commended projects for the manner in which, in a number of ways, they showed excellence in civil engineering."
