Summa Health Now Offers Online Dermatology Visits for Ohio Patient Convenience

Dermatology practice has partnered with Iagnosis, Inc. to give patients easier access to quality dermatology care through any web-enabled device.

Summa Health and leading teledermatology platform provider Iagnosis, Inc., today announced a partnership to deliver high-quality, convenient “virtual” dermatology care through online visits to patients in Ohio.

Both new and existing patients can conduct an online visit with board-certified dermatologist Julie Mark, MD, without an appointment, to get a diagnosis and personalized treatment plan from a dermatology expert for medical conditions affecting the skin, hair, or nails. Patients only need Internet access and a device for taking digital photos of their problem issue.

We are very excited to offer modern telehealth capabilities in response to increasing demand from patients seeking scheduling convenience and time savings, but who also don't want to sacrifice getting appropriate medical care. Our virtual visit solution mirrors what would typically occur during an office examination, collecting clinical data that helps make the most accurate diagnosis possible.

Dr. Mark said, “We are very excited to offer modern telehealth capabilities in response to increasing demand from patients seeking scheduling convenience and time savings, but who also don’t want to sacrifice getting appropriate medical care. Our virtual visit solution mirrors what would typically occur during an office examination, collecting clinical data that helps make the most accurate diagnosis possible.”

Here’s how it works:

·       An online dermatology visit guides patients through several simple steps of creating a patient profile, collecting some medical history and uploading photos of their problem condition.

·       Dr. Mark reviews each case submitted online and responds with a diagnosis, personalized treatment plan and any prescriptions sent to the patient’s preferred pharmacy. Online visits typically will be completed in 24 hours.

·       When medically necessary, the patient may be referred for an in-office visit.

To use the service, patients simply visit http://www.summahealth.org/onlinederm to start an online visit, or they can download the Summa Health dermatology mobile app from the App Store or on Google Play™.

Among the more than 3,000 conditions for which patients can access the system are acne, rashes, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, toenail fungus, suspicious moles, melanoma and other skin cancers. In addition, parents or guardians can conduct online dermatology visits for children or others in their care, without requiring the surrogate or patient to miss work or school.

Summa Health’s online visit solution is enabled through a partnership with Iagnosis, the largest provider of a teledermatology-exclusive platform currently used by more than 180 board-certified dermatologists across the U.S. The solution is compliant with HIPAA and HITECH online healthcare information standards for patient data security.

“We are pleased to partner with Summa Health to offer Akron-area patients more options for treatment by a dermatology specialist, rather than delaying treatment or going to a non-dermatology care provider who may not have the expertise,” said David Zynn, CEO of Iagnosis.
