Mona McCullough, M.D., is pleased to announce that she has officially opened her urogynecological practice in the Tampa Bay area, Suncoast Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive surgery, in beautiful New Port Richey, serving Citrius City and Crystal River. It is the first and only urogynecology practice in New Port Richey and one of only a handful in the Crystal River area.

"The best part of my job is the satisfaction of knowing I provided the best possible solution for a specific patient's condition," says Dr. McCullough, founder of Suncoast Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, "As a female athlete, I understand the importance of a balanced and active lifestyle for both mental and physical health. Many women lose this ability after childbirth or with age and it is my goal to restore their lifestyle as quickly as possible."

Dr. McCullough was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. An expert on women's pelvic health, she completed both her Bachelor and Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Minor in Biomechanics at the University of Florida. During her studies at U.F., Dr. McCullough developed her passion for understanding the human body and how to restore healthy pelvic floor function to women in need. This combined with her innate desire to interact and connect with those around her led the urogynecology expert to medicine. A certified urogynecological surgeon, she earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, narrowing her expertise on women's health and ultimately to the science of restoring natural pelvic floor functions in women. From there she attended a four year residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida where she became fascinated with helping women to live normal lives again through pelvic floor restoration. Dr. McCullough then completed an additional three year, ABOG approved fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of South Florida. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and continues to advance knowledge of the field as an affiliate Associate Professor at the University of South Florida, in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Urogynecology is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as urology. It focuses on restoring pelvic floor function in women with pelvic health issues such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and urinary tract problems. Dr. McCullough's practice, Suncoast Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, is equipped to provide on-site diagnostic testing for women with pelvic health issues, and she has access to state-of-the-art robotics equipment in order to offer the latest robotic-surgery options available in the field of urogynecology. She also offers non-surgical treatment options for those less severe, but equally important pelvic health issues that affect women from all walks of life. According to Dr. McCullough, "it is very important to remember that each patient's exam, personal wishes, and lifestyles are taken into consideration when developing the optimal treatment plan." As an urogynecological surgeon, she understands that urogynecological conditions may be difficult for many women to confront, which is why the patients of Suncoast Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery are always greeted with the utmost compassion, privacy, and respect when they walk through her doors.

Dr. McCullough's goal as an urogynecologist is to help women to lead a normal and healthy lifestyle once again. Women who experience health issues relating to the pelvic floor feel overburdened, and these health issues force many women to stop doing the things they love such as golfing, swimming, and the simple act of walking along one of Florida's beautiful beaches. The stress that pelvic health issues put on a women's life is immense but correctable. Dr. McCullough and Suncoast Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery urge all women who suffer from these health issues to stop rearranging their lives around their health issues, and to contact her office in New Port Richey in order to live a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life.

When Dr. McCullough is not seeing patients in Citrus City and Crystal River, she enjoys spending her free time staying active, volunteering, and spending time with her family in the Tampa Bay area. Dr. McCullough has completed two half marathons—one in Miami and the other in San Diego—as well as dedicated years of her life to serving the Tampa Bay area through various service organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and other Catholic charities.
