Surgeons to Share Natural Breast Reconstruction Expertise in Free Webinar

Breast reconstruction specialists Dr. James Craigie and Dr. Richard M. Kline, Jr. of The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction will host a no-cost webinar on natural breast reconstruction, the increasingly popular alternative to silicone and salin

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA-Dr. James Craigie and Dr. Richard M. Kline, Jr., breast reconstruction surgery specialists and co-directors of The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction, will host a free webinar on April 12 to inform and educate women about natural breast reconstruction.

In the U.S., one in 8 women-slightly under 12 percent of the female population-will be diagnosed with breast cancer during the course of their lives. Of those affected, about 30 percent elect mastectomy due to fears of recurrence of the cancer. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, those who choose to avoid mastectomy often do so at least partially for cosmetic reasons.

During the webinar, Is Natural Breast Reconstruction Right for Me?, surgeons from The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction will help women who have undergone or are planning to undergo mastectomy determine whether they might enjoy the emotional and physical benefits of natural breast reconstruction.

"My main goal is to help people," notes Dr. Craigie, who co-founded The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction with the belief that women who felt physically "whole" after cancer had a better chance of recovering fully. His partner, Dr. Kline, agrees. "We feel very privileged to be able to use our skills to help so many people," he says. "Restoring women's body image is our passion."

The surgeons aim to give attendees practical knowledge about natural breast reconstruction, about which breast cancer patients are inundated with over-information. They will cover the basics about natural reconstruction procedures, which are less common than reconstruction with silicone or saline implants.

Specifically, the webinar will cover how various natural breast reconstruction procedures work; what patients can expect in terms of hospital stays, recovery, and scarring; and how various insurance plans cover natural breast reconstruction surgeries.

Following the webinar, attendees will be able to participate in a live Q&A session with surgeons and insurance specialists from The Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction.
