Survey of Flame Retardants Industry in China
Online, February 13, 2015 (Newswire.com) - In 2014, several kinds of flame retardant had been banned due to their high toxicity and harmfulness to environment. For example, HBCD was banned by the Stockholm Convention since November 2014. Besides, TDCPP and TCEP were banned in New York in the application on kids’ care products. Therefore, the consumption amount of these flame retardants is impacted to certain degree. However, whether their consumption volume will drop or not, we need to analyze from various aspects, especially since there are multiple applications supporting their consumption.
China's flame retardant industry used to depend heavily on overseas market because of the low demand in domestic market. However, with the development of China's motor vehicle industry and electronic industry, China's flame retardant industry has maintained rapid development in the recent decade with large-scale production and domestic consumption of flame retardant has increased greatly. Currently, there are several hundred flame retardant manufacturers in China, producing almost all kinds of flame retardants. While the current consumption volume from China took up about 24% of the world flame retardant market.
In China’s flame retardant industry, brominated flame retardants (BFRs) have experienced a long-tern development, due to its excellent fire-resistant function and low additive amount. However, along with the deeper study on safety of flame retardant and much attention to environmental protection, some new kinds of flame retardants came out with low toxicity and low smoke, like phosphate flame retardants (PFRs), Zinc borate (ZB) and so on. Moreover, a new trend of non-halogen has been more and more acknowledgeable, which gave birth to the rapid growth of aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide (ATH&MH).
In CCM’s latest report Survey of Flame Retardants Industry in China, major kinds of flame retardant are introduced elaborately, including BFRs, CFRs, PFRs, antimony compounds, aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide and others. Besides, the end-use segments are also analyzed in details by application, covering plastic, PCB, rubber, textile, coating, wood and paper. Moreover, the latest technology trends, key influencing factors, investments environment analysis and more than twenty Chinese flame retardant producers are discussed in this report.
According to CCM's investigation, the flame retardant industry in China will witness a stable growth in the following five years (2015-2019), and low toxicity, low smoke and non-halogen flame retardants will probably enjoy a bright future.
