Suttle-Straus Gives Insight into Their Full-Service Printing and Distribution Company and Their Six Sigma Strategy
Online, September 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - (SAN DIEGO, CA) - Manufacturing Digital Magazine spoke with John Berthelsen of Suttle-Straus about their printing and distribution business solutions. From web-based applications to assist in the ordering and managing of inventory to actual mailing of printed goods, Suttle-Straus offers flat and full color direct mail, marketing, advertising, promotional and corporate printed materials to their national list of customers. The Company operates offset printing presses and digital and inkjet printing.
The Company recently wrapped up three Six Sigma projects, all of which lasted 90 days that focused on the shop floor. "The first project focused on reducing waste during the manufacturing process," Ted Straus says, Vice President and Chief Operation Officer of Suttle-Strauss. "Previously, we created extra products with the assumption that others might need it. We stopped producing for 'what-if' moments to drastically reduce our waste and we incorporated a measurement system to create only what was needed."
Berthelsen says more of their customers are seeking print-on-demand services that allow companies to spend less on printing ahead of time. "Our customers are also integrating more personalization in their printed requests and are using new marketing tactics to target specific customers," he says.
