Swank a Posh Boutique Aiding in #WaterForFlint Relief Efforts
Swank a Posh Boutique not only believes in empowering women to stand out in fashion but to stand out in their communities as well. In the wake of this pressing and current issue in Flint, Michigan, Swank A Posh Boutique has designated its three locations as drop off points for bottled water.
Detroit, Michigan, January 19, 2016 (Newswire.com) - From April 2014 to October 2015, residents of Flint have been subject to bathing, drinking and cooking with contaminated water from Flint River. “Virginia Tech researchers found the water was highly corrosive. A class-action lawsuit alleges the state Department of Environmental Quality didn't treat the water for corrosion, in accordance with federal law, and because so many service lines to Flint are made of lead, the noxious element leached into the water of the city's homes,” according to CNN.
“It’s sickening and its happening right in my backyard,” says Swank A Posh Boutique’s Owner, Ebony Swank. “I have an obligation as a business owner to give back to the community that has supported me for years. I would not feel right if I did not do something about this.”
Resident and customers are able to drop off bottled water at any of Swank A Posh Boutique’s locations around the city and a delivery in Flint will be made by the end of the week.
