Sweet Counter's Strong Visual Resources Make Learning Maths Simple
Colourful and attractive to look at... my class immediately wanted one
Online, December 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - One of mankind's oldest counting tools is getting a fun new makeover as Sweet Counter announces the release of the pioneering Multiplication Rainbow. The simple and colourful Multiplication Rainbow is designed to help children learn their times tables.
It is in essence a redesign of the multiplication squares with which most teachers, parents and schoolchildren will be familiar. But whereas multiplication squares can be dull and formal, the Multiplication Rainbow is colourful and fun. Its simple yet familiar design means multiples can be seen, at a glance, both vertically and horizontally. The rainbow is also useful for teaching children the complex subject of division. This strong emphasis on visualisation makes it the ideal teaching method for teaching children who otherwise struggle with numbers; the colours help their eyes to track and remember the numbers when doing difficult calculations.
The multiplication rainbow comes in four sizes, one of which blank spaces on the reverse in place of numbers. Children should be encouraged to work out which numbers go where, encouraging understanding through a mixture of memory and calculation. The other sizes of multiplication rainbow include an external, weatherproof playground version.
Chris Mayo, the Director of Sweet Counter, said,
"This simple idea will soon replace the outdated tables square. The mini rainbow should be an accessory for every child's pencil case or pocket so aiding children's learning and understanding of this difficult but vital concept"
The design has already proven popular with teachers and pupils alike. The Association for the Teaching of Maths praised it as "Colourful and attractive to look at... my class immediately wanted one".
Designed as a fun, creative, practical and hands-on approach to learning that will bring your lessons alive.
