Tactio and Garmin Team Up to Make Telehealth Senior-Friendly
ORLANDO, FLORIDA, February 19, 2017 (Newswire.com) - HIMSS BOOTH #6645 – Tactio Health Group and Garmin Ltd, two companies leading the way in telehealth and wearable technology, respectively, are teaming up to offer a telehealth solution specifically designed to monitor the daily health and well-being of seniors. The joint solution adds Garmin wearables to a growing list of Bluetooth-enabled devices (blood pressure monitors, scales, glucometers, thermometers and pulse oximeters) that seamlessly integrate with Tactio apps, enabling data collection without mandating third-party accounts.
Wearables are now integrated into several corporate wellness and remote patient monitoring programs, but long term buy-in from seniors remains challenging. With patients 55 years and older increasingly owning smartphones, pilot projects targeting senior homes and chronically-ill patients helped Tactio identify the following success criteria:
- 1-year battery life and seamless connectivity to enable patients to forget they’re wearing a device;
- No third-party accounts/apps to simplify patient onboarding and support;
- Unified user experience to provide a single interface to connect devices, collect data, respond to questionnaires and engage with their provider.
Collaborating since 2014, these requirements brought engineers of Tactio and Garmin together to directly integrate vívofit 3 wearables with TactioRPM patient apps. This newly introduced solution allows payers, providers and pharma to roll out health and wellness monitoring programs with a single dedicated patient-facing telehealth application while benefitting from the 1-year battery life of the vívofit 3.
“We have users in their 70s, 80s and 90s helping us understand their issues with mHealth well. Our relentless pursuit of a solution for them has generated this tight integration of the Garmin vívofit 3 into our patient apps making TactioRPM the best mobile solution for senior telehealth programs”, said Michel Nadeau, P.Eng., CEO of Tactio Health Group.
Doug Jones, Director of Garmin Health, stated, “Working with Tactio is a tremendous opportunity for Garmin. The water resistance and battery life of our devices makes it a perfect fit for seniors which require the passive collection of data and streamlined sync process.”
TactioRPM is an app-enabled platform that combines mobile apps, hundreds of connected health integrations (incl. Garmin, A&D, Fitbit, Roche, Nonin, Omron & Welch Allyn), patient questionnaires, digital coaching programs and HIPAA-compliant messaging. Powering telehealth initiatives from payers, providers and pharma, its wide range of clinical applications includes chronic disease monitoring, population health screening, clinical research and post-acute care. TactioRPM is registered as a Class 1 with the FDA, CE and ANVISA.
Tactio will demonstrate its TactioRPM platform at HIMSS 2017 in Orlando from February 20th to 22nd (booth #6645), ATA 2017 in Orlando from April 23rd to 25th and Hospitalar in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from May 16th to 19th.
