Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) in association with Rotary International is organising a valedictory function as part of the "GREEN ENERGY VIRUMBUVOM" at The National College Auditorium, Trichy on 25th November, 2011.

An innovative campaign to create awareness about the benefits and importance of adopting renewable energy

 Tamil Nadu Inter-School competitions commenced in the month of October
 Received 3.50 lakh plus entries from over 750 schools across Tamil Nadu
 All participants will be given participation certificate
 Top three winners from four categories will be honoured by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour

Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) in association with Rotary International is organising a valedictory function as part of the "GREEN ENERGY VIRUMBUVOM" at The National College Auditorium, Trichy on 25th November, 2011. The Chief Guest for the function will be Hon'ble Natham Thiru R. Viswanathan, Minister for Electricity, Prohibition & Excise, Government of Tamil Nadu and the Guest of honour will be Hon'ble Thiru. M. Paranjothi, Minister for HR and CE, Law, Courts and Prisons, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

Special Guests, Tmt. A. Jaya, Worshipful Mayor, Trichy Corporation, Thiru. P. Kumar, Member of Parliament, Trichy, Thiru. N.R. Sivapathy, MLA., Trichy, Tmt. Jayashree Muralidharan, I.A.S., District Collector, Trichy, Thiru. S. Rajendaran, District Governor, RI. District 3000 will be present along with Mr. Sudeep Jain, I.A.S., Chairman and Managing Director, TEDA, the organizer of the event and other Government officials to grace the occasion with their presence.

As part of 'Green Energy Virumbuvom' campaign, TEDA has conducted Tamil Nadu Inter-School competitions across all towns & cities in Tamil Nadu. The main objective of this initiative is to create awareness about the benefits and importance of various alternative sources of energy available.

Around 750 schools across cities in Tamil Nadu will be participating in these competitions. The competitions being held are Drawing and collage for classes VI to VIII, Essay and Elocution for Classes IX to XI. TEDA has so far received 3.50 lakh plus entries and is expecting to receive more entries in the coming week.

Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Sudeep Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) said, "We would like to thank the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Chief Minister, Dr. J Jayalalithaa for giving us an opportunity to conduct this 'Green Energy Virumbuvom' campaign".

He added, "With a strong support from Rotary International, stakeholders, teachers, students and the public, we are confident that this innovative campaign by TEDA will set a benchmark for many such green initiatives across the State of Tamil Nadu in particular and India in General".

Apart from the Inter-School competitions, TEDA will also be conducting a series of activities across Tamil Nadu such as, the Mobile Exhibit van with renewable energy gadgets, (for imparting practical knowledge) Green cycle rally for school students and an International Conference cum Expo on Renewable Energy to be held on 11th and 12th March, 2012.
